** McDougle Elementary School’s “Dolphin Spanish Club” is seeking energetic teachers and volunteers for our after school Spanish immersion program.**

Teachers: We are looking for fluent Spanish speakers to lead and teach an after-school Spanish club for elementary children for the 2014-2015 school year.  The groups (K-1st and 2nd-5th grade) meet at McDougle Elementary School on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30-4pm.  The pay is $20/contact hour (approximately 3 hours per week, following the Chapel Hill School District calendar for any days the kids have school).  The kids are enthusiastic about learning Spanish through immersion – no English, please!  Our goal is to provide children the chance to practice and improve their Spanish language skills through play and games.  We are looking for teachers who are creative and fun. Several children have been in the program for two years; others will have had limited exposure to Spanish.

Strong candidates will be fluent and will have either have spent some time in a Spanish speaking country or a native speaker. Previous experience with children highly valued too.  We welcome qualified honors/public service scholars who want to do this for service too!

Service/Volunteers: We are also looking for volunteers with strong Spanish skills.  This is a great opportunity for public service scholars or honors students to practice conversational Spanish and contribute ideas for classroom activities. Contact hours for volunteers can be 1.5 or 3 hours/week.  Fluency is not required for this position but an interest in practicing the language and an interest in children is!

Please contact Kelly Hogan (leek@email.unc.edu) or Deb Reisinger (debsreis@gmail.com) if interested in applying for either of these positions.
